What we stand for
The Liberal Democrat party has always stood for the production of innovative policies, many of which go on to be picked up by others, and its manifesto contains a mix of some new ideas with some long-held policy positions.
Undoubtedly some of the party’s policies would benefit English businesses. However, in order to do so, the Liberal Democrats have to continue to work together with the Conservative Party in coalition and furthermore, strengthen those links.
Given the strains that have been put on the Liberal Democrats as a result of the party’s coalition deal at Westminster, it means that resources such as the Centre for Reform have even more work to do.
The Centre For Reform has changed.

The Centre for Reform is an independent, free-thinking forum for new ideas and progressive debate. It is a meeting point for people concerned about the world we live in but disillusioned with today's politics.
The challenges facing our society are immense. Yet our political system seems incapable of overcoming these challenges and unable to engage people in the search for new solutions.
The result is diminishing respect for politicians, declining political participation and a dearth of fresh opinions.
The Centre for Reform has developed into one of the liveliest think tanks, willing to challenge the conventional wisdom. We stand for fresh thinking on the main policy issues facing Britain.
If you feel strongly about any issues currently being discussed by the Centre for Reform; in Parliament or in the media, please e-mail us. Your views will then be posted on this website. Please note that we may edit contributions.
